We are proud to announce the acquisition of The Shapeshifters’ incredible discography, making a valuable addition to our roster of artist catalogues. A close friend of the label since its inception, Defected will now home all titles from Simon Marlin and his former bandmate Max Reich, acquiring the discography from Positiva (Universal Music Group).

"When it came to trusting my Back catalogue to a new record company after so many years with EMI, it was a simple choice to go with Defected as the new custodians, a progressive forward thinking company that I have worked with for years and trust to maximise and generate every opportunity for me." - Simon Marlin, The Shapeshifters

Fresh from the release of Let Loose on Glitterbox Recordings this month, The Shapeshifters’ first studio album since 2006, this acquisition includes the esteemed debut LP Sound Advice, as well as chart-topping singles like the Platinum certified UK #1 ‘Lola’s Theme’ and Top 10 hit ‘Back To Basics’. Also featuring The Shapeshifters’ collaborations with disco legends CHIC as well as remixes from veritable dance heroes such as Eric Prydz, Norman Jay and ATFC, this colourful collection spans the worlds of house and disco.

Whether you’re already familiar with The Shapeshifters’ music or a newer house fan, this catalogue acquisition offers a chance to dive deep into his incredible collection of records.  Making these tracks accessible and easy to explore via streaming services and dance sites (e.g. Beatport and Traxsource), The Shapeshifters joins Defected’s impressive range of artist catalogues that include UKG legend Todd Edwards, Mike Dunn, Blaze, Mr V, DJ Gregory and more.
